Two schools of thoughts in crafting business strategy

I just came across two articles today that emphasize on totally different approach in strategising key business decision:-

i) Strategic Agility that emphasizes the development of capability in creating new markets (new customers) with new product offering. This is consistent with Professor Clayton Christensen's Disruptive Innovations theory. According to this theory, Disruptive Innovations (also known as 'Market Creating Innovations') enable new market entrants to pull people from non-consumption of a particular product or service to consumption.

ii) Operational Agility that emphasizes on the continuous improvement of existing product/service/business model that will last for at least one decade from now.

It is truly fascinating to see corporations that have adopted different business strategies manage to excel in their respective business fields despite bucking conventional wisdom.

The main driver of these successes in my opinion is the combination of right team, right process and effective execution.
